We’ve been fighting an ongoing battle with material not issuing to jobs. Our next priority by magnitude is low-cost parts with 1000s of items in stock but showing up as stocked out in the material tree.
I can issue the parts manually with mass issue, but the jobs themselves won’t issue the material during execution.
A lot of issuing is done via BPM, so if it wasn’t for the red dot showing up I’d be inclined to blame that.
The bins are normal, the parts are FIFO, associated with a picking operation on which all other parts behave normally.
This happens to us sometimes. I think it’s largely from subassemblies with no operations (only material) and even the job completion backflush won’t get them. But other times it does seem to be a mystery.
yes, we’ve had that, and if a backflush operation isn’t followed by a Q or T&Q op it won’t backflush; but in this case it’s a part on the top level and being issued on a T&Q picking operation, and it’s FIFO in any case. I’m suspecting a FIFO stuff-up and will check that next
FIFO costing or some other kind of FIFO? Just curious for my own sake. I know that FIFO costing means the part can never go negative since, what cost would it be? That kind of the idea?
Yes that’s right. Normally we use FIFO but on consumables we use AVG so we can backflush them, and AVG bins can go negative. However this part is FIFO. I only mention it in case it jogs somebody’s memory…
