Hi Pablo,
As Leonard mentioned, you probably have some data corruption in your
database due to orphaned transactions. There were some bugs in Vantage that
seem to have allowed this to happen, at least in past versions (3.0 - 5.0).
Also, if you happen to use Mike Podlin's timeout utility, it can leave
orphaned transactions in certain cases as well. You should contact Epicor
about this for two reasons: 1. to find out what may have caused the orphaned
transactions (which can sometimes be a mystery). They will start by asking
you if you are using the timeout utility. 2. to obtain a fix program that
will correct your onhandqty's.
One way to check other parts that may be affected is to run your Stock
Status report for a date prior to when you started on Vantage (the oldest
date you can use is 1970). Ideally, your Stock Status should be ZERO on this
past date in history. This method is not totally failsafe, since there some
other reasons that incorrect transactions that could cause the Stock Status
to be other than zero (such as if you use non-netable bins... I'm not sure
of any other reasons at this point). Any parts that show up on your 1970
stock status report are ones that you should look into and review, and
possibly do a physical count on to verify your quantities.
Good luck.

Subject: [Vantage] Part Tracker vs. Stock Status report
Happy month end,
Our materials manager brought an issue up regarding differences between
the
stock status report and the on hand quantities in part tracker in addition
to the running total in transaction history. This change became apparent
after upgrading to 5.2 in recent months.
Example: Part Number X
Part Tracker - on hand QTY 0
Transaction History Running Total -1,195
Stock Status -1,195
After making the changes in Quantity Adjustment by adding 1,195, the
following changes occur.
Part Tracker - on hand QTY 1,195
Transaction History Running Total 0
Stock Status 0
It seems strange to me why there would be a difference in qty. Perhaps it
is
the way it recognizes negative values.
Has anyone in the group experienced the same issues? Any insight would be
greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Pablo Garza
