Does anyone know what the ‘Service’ checkbox option does in Part Maintenance? Does it have an actual function, or is it just a flag for searching/reporting purposes?
The description in the Field Help / Data Dictionary is simply the database field name, so not very helpful…

Indicates if this part is a services item. Depending on its value, the Service check box works as follows:
On - The Non-Stock Item check box is selected automatically, the Quantity Bearing check box is cleared automatically;
Off - The Non-Stock Item check box is cleared automatically, the Quantity Bearing check box is selected automatically.
Services Item, I am guessing this would be for something like consulting or freight or similar. As far as I can tell it just automates the behaviour of the the non-stock and qty bearing flags and also sets the IsServices field value at the same time.
Definately ongoing issues with the field help in the Kinetic UI. But the data dictionary still exists.
