Part options without additional part numbers

Good morning,

I’m fairly inexperienced with Epicor and capabilities, I’ve only been lightly using it for roughly a year now.

We’re working through a more recent issue with a specific customer where the they order a top level part number with various options. I know good manufacturing practices would be to have a new part number for each option set but I’m curious if there is another way to handle that with in Epicor’s part number structure.

Is there a way to setup options to a top level part number without creating additional top level part numbers to capture all the option combinations? We have no control over which option sets are ordered. It could be one, two, or even all five or more for the top level.

Thank you,

Do you own the Configurator? That might be a solution. Another thing to look at is Sales Kit. Without knowing more of your needs, can’t really say if one would be better over the other.

If you are using the quoting module, you could use the same part number each time in the quote and build out the BOM inside the quote, just pull the Quote BOM into your job. This is basically what you would be doing with a configurator but the manual way.
