We have a top level assembly with packaging.
We have another assembly with packaging.
Normally, the top level goes with assembly 2. But when that happens, you dont need the packaging. Engineering leaves the packaging on assy 2 in case it is shipped as a stand alone.
Now we have extra packaging that we dont need. How are others handling this situation.
We make cable assemblies, and can have more than one on a reel (think of the big 4-6 foot wooden reels). We add the smallest size really to each job (its added by the configurator).
We use Mass Issue, then just do manual returns and issues as needed.
We thought about making a job for ganging multiple cables onto a single reel. But then that doesn’t match up with the sales order, and the exact combo of cables wasn’t as straight forward as you’d think - these cables are installed as they come off the reel. So the order in which they are on the real matters too.
