Overriding an Epicor out of the box Row Rule

Is there a way to override a native row rule in a Kinetic form that works? Our company takes actions on shipments when a shipment is “CLOSED”, but we can’t do that because Epicor locks down every field except “Weight” with a row rule when a shipment is closed. The only way I’ve found to correct this is to go into the rules.json in Ice.XXXDef and add my field to the row rule, but that is overwritten every patch update and that is not sustainable long term.

I’ve tried the same path that was suggested in this post, but it didn’t work for me.

What is the action you need to take? Is it something that can be automated in a pre-processing directive?

It can’t be handled in a BPM for what we need. Support just told me this isn’t possible, but they’re going to pass it off to the application support team.
