Overloaded Resource

We are currently working in test environment and having trouble with finite resources. Despite the resource being finite and clicking finite when we run global scheduling, the resource becomes overloaded (see screenshot).

The resource in the attached screenshot has an 16 hour a day calendar and is marked finite, and the resource, group and site all have a finite horizon that goes long past the date in question. We showed our consultant and she went over our settings with us and attempted to re-schedule, but couldn’t figure out the issue either.

Any ideas?

Is there a concurrent capacity set up on the resource?

No there is not.

Can you post the scheduling logs for 2 of those jobs that were scheduled at the same time?

By Default the Late Color and OverLoad Color are VERY close. Can you change one of them to another color to confirm those jobs are actually late. I think they are but it is hard to tell in the screenshot.
Also, review the Overload Informer as you should see more information on the capacity.
Also, can you confirm what version you are on?
Thanks

Are you scheduling the jobs finitely? Or, are these plans (unfirm jobs) created through MRP?

It is possible (and is an excellent tool, by the way) to schedule jobs infinitely across finite resources. It is also possible to be selective about what operations are scheduled finitely versus infinite.

Job scheduling board is a very powerful tool.

I apologize for the delay in response. We are suddenly unable to run global scheduling, it keeps freezing. Will post the logs when the situation is resolved.

We tried both to schedule the jobs finitely and infinitely. Same results (resource overscheduled).

That’s just weird. Does the same thing happen when scheduling individual jobs (as opposed to a global reschedule task)?

Holy cow was this an informative tip! THANK YOU, Mr. Rick Bird.

I know it’s been a while, but did you ever figure out what was causing this?

We never did, but it has not replicated in our live environment that I have seen.

Thanks for getting back to me. Appreciate it.
