It gives you Terminal Services without all the fuss.

No idea about the cost or performance but I've been very intrigued lately about www.gotomypc.com . Might be worth looking into since it is supposed to be "firewall friendly". If anyone has experience with this service I would love to hear the good & the bad.

We have a terminal services box setup and use remote desktop to hook up to it. We have a third party provide access to our network via dial-up. It works fairly well.

We do that here. I have 6 clients on my VPN that can connect to the local
network. I had to walk them through setting up the VPN client on their
computers at home. Only problem is I can't get it to work by mapping drives
and installing Vantage. What we do is use PCAnywhere to remote control our
desktops from home. Over a cable modem it works great, because your only
sending screen shots across the connection. This isn't good for notebook
users that do not have another computer at work.

We connect over a VPN and then use pcAnywhere. Works fine if you have a
desktop always available for the remote user. Usually the remote user is
connecting to their own PC at work which is running pcAnywhere Host. For
our sales guy who works from a laptop, and for anybody that doesn't have a
PC at work, we have an extra 'community' box running pcAnywhere.

I have used gotomypc.com to access Vantage. It worked well for the brief time I was using it. There was a bit of latency but that is likely due to the low bandwidth on my DSL connection. There were no issues with the firewall.

Todd,

We make extensive use of Citrix Online's sister service designed for support
called GoToAssist. It operates on port 80 so, if you can browse the net
without a proxy you will not have any issues. Additionally, if you use IE
and do have a proxy the service can still access your system without
firewall issues.
