OT - performance needs across the WAN for E10

Good Day Manasa,

Depending upon the traffic volume you may want to evaluate some WAN optimization devices like the Riverbed SteelHead.  It can really improve the overall performance in heavy load situations.

I would agree with Vic.  We've used both MPLS, VPN at the firewall, and VPN clients on workstations, all work great.  The VPN client on workstation is a little less reliable, but generally works just fine.

We're also deploying VDI (Citrix) and finding this works very well for Epicor - especially for any users who are pulling large reports/data, because now all processing is done locally with only keyboard/video/mouse going across the line.

I've no experience with hosted, I imagine over the next few years this will likely turn into a very viable solution.

I’ve personally used all 3 scenarios with #1 working the best, being the most reliable and most cost effective solution.  The full client runs very nicely across even a basic VPN.  I have users on a 6MB DSL (6MB down / .5MB up) and it runs very nice… faster than any hosted solution I’ve seen.  I’m not a fan of cloud-hosted enterprise solutions for a myriad of reasons.  And given the available and inexpensive bandwidth these days, I’m seeing less and less of a need for solutions like RDP and Citrix.

We have a lot of satellite sites across the planet that need to start using Epicor.  I was wondering what others are using to address this issue?

We usually do site to site VPN or MPLS, your other choice is to go cloud hostedÂ

I’ve had great luck with Microsofts SSTP vpn protocol if it’s available to you. I can connect in and I notice no difference.
