Sounds like a nearly new PC, so it's probably running Win 2000 or XP,
no? Have you checked in the Task Manager to see if there's any indication
of a program hogging memory, or an overall shortage of memory?

Has anyone made a report that shows items in inventory that haven't been
used for a certain period of time. I have tried editing some of the
reports off of the onelist and am not having much success. If you have
one to share I would appreciate it. If you have any tips I would love
them as well. Feel free to contact me off line. The problems I am
having are quite detailed.

If you are using lot tracking try the LAST USED fields from the PART.LOT
table. But they would include STK-STK transactions which may not be exactly
what your looking for. Most people are just looking for the last shipment or
issue.

To get specific join to the parttran table, filter for the type of
transactions you want, create an aggregate variable set to MAX to get the
latest trans action date. PREPASS the variable so you can use it in the
Report Builder filter such as > last trans date. Like I said it all depends
if you want to include adjustments, DMR's, just moves in the stock room
STK-STK, etc...

Here is one that has me stumped.

I have one user who is running Windows NT 4 WS with 256 Ram, 10/100 (either
speed) connections, and Office 97.

His network speed is great. His Vantage is fast and he can pull large files
over the LAN quickly. Word and Excel work fast locally. However when he
opens or save an Office document on any network drive (server unspecific) it
literally takes 30-45 seconds to open or save. Any other docs (pdf, dwg,
etc) are fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled office in vain. Any
ideas would be a great help.

Thanks

I'm wondering if there is a memory leak in Vantage or something. We have a number of workstations that seem to get very sluggish in the afternoon. A reboot clears things up. (most people shut down their computers at night). IT seems to happen most often with people who are in and out during the day more often.

I've been having the same issue here, since going to 5.1. It was happening
to our Accountant (Excel), ususally by mid day. I increased her RAM to 384
MBs, and now it doesn't happen until late afternoon. Each time I have her
reboot, things go back to normal for a while. Unfortunately, she doesn't do
this until she turns green and makes her head spin around in circles. LOL. I
just love those Bean Counters. : ) From our end, at least, it appears that
resources are not being freed up properly. Hopefully somebody else will have
a better explaination, and solution, to this situation.

Don't get too excited about a P4. One of the users who complains about things slowing down in the afternoon has a Dell P4 1.8Ghz. They reboot around 3 p.m. to shake the lag time. I think they have 256MB of RAM. This mysterious problem doesn't seem to be prejudiced by processor speed.

I initially questioned NAV myself, but disabled it on our Accountant's
machine long enough to find out that it was not the problem. I still suspect
some kind of issue with 5.1, and not releasing RAM properly. We jumped from
3.0 to 5.1, so I can't say for certain that the problem started with 5.1. We
didn't have this issue with 3.0. In fact, we had no issues with 3.0. So much
for progress. No pun intended. I second the P4. I just bought two for a
couple of our users, and time to Vantage Logon screen is just under 5
seconds.
