OT: Network audit software

I use Asset Navigator by Alloy Software. http://www.alloy-software.com/

I have added an Asset Navigator audit to my logon scripts so every time a
user logs on it audit that computer. I can update the database with the
audit data any time I want. It tracks Software, Hardware, help desk, IP
Addresses, software licensing and tons of other info. It is not very
expensive. I think I spent 695 for an unlimited user license. There is trail
software on their site. It's worth a look. It works perfectly for the
information I am interested in keeping.

Subject: [Vantage] OT: Network audit software

Since it is such a slow day on the ole message board I thought I would
see what everyone uses (if anything) to audit pcs on the network
What I am specifically looking for is something that will give me the
specs on networked devices
AKA Processor speed, OS, Memory etc
PSINFO Works but you have to do it from DOS and you have to manually do
one Pc at a time
I am looking for something more automated

GFI Network scanner is good but I am looking for a little more
(www.gfi.com)

Anyone come across such a beast in their travels on the web

We are using Track-It! by Blue Ocean Software. Install on the network, then
add clients, it keeps inventory of EVERYTHING: hardware, periphs and
software -- including license codes! It also has a small version of Crystal
reports for report/info collection, and depending on the version, it can
also "reach out and touch" the workstations from whatever admin computer you
install on.

All this for up to 50 users (it might be 100 -- check their website) at a
mere $505 -- and you get an actual CD and instruction manual.

We've just bought EZ Audit and it's worked well so far. It gives us all
the information we'd hope for such as Processor/speed, memory, HD size
and space remaining, software installed and a list of dll's/exe's on the
machine with their versions and descriptions. It's completely automated
via an NT logon script so the only thing I have to do is point the
software to the storage directory to access the audit files. Another
plus point is it's cheap - $450 for a 5 site licence. So all round
we're really pleased with the software.
