I have had good luck with Dell laptops. We also purchase the complete care
warranty for the first three years. After that they are replaced/repaired
as needed. As others have said the weight on the high end is the problem.
The desktop replacement models are very heavy to travel with if you travel a
lot. Most of our travel is by auto so weight is not that big of an issue.
Games and graphics are something else to keep in mind. Some of your higher
end machines do not play games or handle DVD's as well as you might like.
Dell (and others) put in high end video boards for these type of
applications. The 16x9 wide screen displays are nice for DVD's as well.
