[OT] Faxing Solutions

Unless Winfax has had a major revisions it is not suited for a client server
environment. It took 6 months of test with tech support to get them to
finally admit that little point. Their sales department glossed over that
"feature" when they sold us a 10 user license. Took another 3 months to get
our money back.

We use ZetaFax and a brooktrout fax card and have been very happy for the
last 18 months.

We purchased Computer Assoiciates FaxserveIT several years ago, I
think they have since sold the product and it is now branded as
Simply Fax. While I won't go as far as to say its been bulletproof,
after getting it set up it has worked well. Set up was difficult due
to some problems with different versions of software we were on at
the time. I will say one nice thing about it is that we bought the
Exchange add-on and are able to send the image of the document to a
fax or e-mail address. More and more customers and rep's prefer e-
mail to fax, and its better for us too, no long distance. If we are
sending the document to 2 individuals and one wants it faxed and one
wants it e-mail, we can send them both simultaneously.

I am curious as to what others in the group are using for faxing
solutions. Currently, I am considering Symantec's Winfax over a Win2K
server's shared modem. The downside to this is that we are not able to
receive faxes via this method which my clients are ok with.

We have used Zetafax www.zetafax.com since 1997 and it has been bulletproof.
We have 15 users that use it to send out and it receives all of our faxes
and forwards them via e-mail.

Currently, I am considering Symantec's Winfax over a Win2K server's shared
modem. The downside to this is that we are not able to receive faxes via
this method which my clients are ok with.
