OT: Enterprise Antivirus Software

Here's some info and links to the three main independent testing bodies.
The short result. Stick with Norton.

Currently we are using McAfee on workstations for anti-virus and bits
and pieces of other products for our servers. I am looking for an
enterprise antivirus system to install on a server or servers that can
distribute updates, catch viruses, etc. on my workstations. I am looking
for a license for about 30 workstations. Looking for the best regardless
of cost. Just trying to get a strategy for my next budget.

Thanks,

Lori

I live and die with Norton Anti-Virus Corporate. It does everything you
asked and is Highly configurable. Auto updating and auto updating of all the
clients. You can even push it to all the workstations to install.

We have Symantec (Norton) Enterprise edition and have not had any problems.
Works great. Virus definitions are downloaded automatically and distributed
to PC's on the network.

Well I had Norton Anti Virus and swtiched to Trend Micro's Office Scan
Very VERY Good product
Vantage loads quicker and the program is great

Then I got ahold of Panda Software
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/enterprise/enterprise.asp

They have a free version for IT Professionals
Full support everything

If you are evaluatinig anti virus software they will give you a free
download

I am running the home version of Trend Micro called PCCillian
I took the panda software home and installe dit and ran it
Found 4 viruses that PCCillian did not catch

I am sold
When it comes time to renew I am seriously going to looka t Panda
THey scan not only viruses but claim they can detect trojans and
pests as well

Hope that helps
I've been using Total Virus Defense from McAfee for several years now.
ePolicy 3.0 works pretty good for management. It checks with McAfee every
15 min. for updates then pushes it to all workstations and servers. Even
Groupshield for Exchange.

McAfee Enterprise here....Took a little bit to get configured but it has
stopped more viruses than I care to admit. (My users are SOOO careful with
opening attachments). I still spot check workstation definitions but they
are usually never more than a week old and I haven't touched the server in
months. Really working well.

We use eTrust InoculateIT by Computer Associates. Works great, auto
distribution, push installs. I think the cost is $75 per client and the
Exchange option was $250.00. This is with a two year update subscription.

We have been using the Trend Micro's Office Scan here for the last 2 years
anyway. It is as flawless as can be. Same as everyone has been saying,
push installs, updates often, keeps things clean. The only problem I have
had was that I opted to leave it off the admin workstation in favor of NAV.
Oops, when I tried to scan a .scr file on my desktop and hit the test by
mistake...that was the only glitch, and that was the only system not
protected by Trend. I have been very happy, and only check up on it once
every 6 months or so now because it is just that good. :)
