OT (CNC Machine Programming)

Thanks for the assurance, Dave. Can I contact you if we have a bump during
the install? -Gary

Gary,

We have been running Dlog for about 5 years and have had very few problems.
When we have had problems, they are quick to get it fixed. Almost every
problem has been with a PC blowing up and then configuring a new one to run.
We have 18 machines hooked up to 4 different PC's and these 4 PC's also run
Vantage Data Collection and Smart Maintenance Request Utility.

Joanne,

We are in the process of purchasing a product called DLOG.
www.dlogusa.com/f_solutions.html
Our CNC wizard seemed to like it. Our DOS custom program finally quit
working (even with MoSlo to slow down the CPU). It seemed cheaper to buy
something than to rewrite it. I'm not sure of the interfacing with Vantage.
We are keeping our usage pretty basic.

We are a machine shop utilizing CNC machines. We currently have a
program that feeds the programming to the CNC machines called
SHOPTEC. This is an old DOS based program and the maintenance for
this is becoming too costly to continue with this program. Can
anyone recommend a program for CNC programming and can it interface
with Vantage. We are on Vantage 5.10. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for asking Joanne.

How about it folks? Any gems out there?

We use a program here called CAMWorks ... www.teksoft.com

Also integrates with Vantage; however, needs to use another program called
MSE to fully integrate. Basically CAMWorks integrates with MSE and
SolidWorks, and MSE integrates with Vantage (MSE = www.microest.com)

We have an old dos application for our machining centers, Extreme DNC from
Ascendant Technologies for our CNC burning benches, and we use PC-DNC editor
from Suburban Machinery Software on a laptop as a backup.

Dave Cole would be able to inform you better about our programming, but he's
tied up, and may respond later. However, I asked the programmer what we're
using. Answer: the programs are written in Aplicon, and Dlog sends them to
the machines. We don't seem to be connecting this to Vantage at this time.
Don't know if that's a possibility.

Just curious, why does/would the machine programs connect to Vantage? I'm
in purchasing, so pardon the dumb question.
