OT-a little - Remote Office communications

At the peak it was maybe 6-10. I checked into satellite and while the
upload and download stream was sufficient in speed the latency of the
connection was way too high to support terminal services or Citrix. The
cable modem has been a good solution for us because it was inexpensive to
setup and maintain and there was no equipment to buy from the cable company.
I only had to buy a cable/dsl router which arenÂ’t bad on price.

Jim,
Thanks. How many PC's are using the cable line? I am just investigating
options, (cable, satillite, etc.), at this point, so any information helps.

We have a remote office in Florida and it uses a cable modem to connect to
use for Vantage etc. I would not recommend cable modem if your connection
is important. We have had problems (maybe it is the provider but I doubt
it) with them keeping a solid connection with dependable speeds. Luckily
they are small enough that a "try it in a half an hour" routine works.

We are nearing the end of your lease for a point-to-point frame relay line
to Mexico.
I am interested in knowing how everyone else is communicating to remote
offices for Vantage, email and voice overIP.
My salesmen are currently using cable or dsl lines to communicate to the
network for Vantage and email, does anyone use something like this for an
office in a different country?
Any help would be great. I am trying to find something for Ohio to Saltillo
Mexico.
Thanks
