OpenEdge 10.1B - Where's SQL Explorer?

Use this instead SQL Explorer. Put your info about server and paths. then create the two txt files with commands and another for result . Copy  below 2 lines and create *.bat file. Run and done. Do not forget about COMMIT; at the end in command file after your SQL Queries.

Hi All,

I think I heard before that SQL Explorer is missing from 10.1B but I
installed V8.03.405 on a test server the other day and noticed, first
hand, that it is missing.

Is it hidden somewhere? Is it possible to get it back?

How do you manage ODBC security without it?

I frequently used SQL Explorer to test out SQL statements from the
server and I'm hoping I can get it back.

I got this error a couple of times while upgrading 8.0 to 8.03.400. In
my case I restored the backup database using the OpenEdge 10.0 proenv.
I needed to use the 10.1B proenv to restore the database. Don't know if
this helps.

I think you have already tried copying the data locally and ensuring the
program is unblocked. Right?

Is your local (intranet) domain the same as your internet domain? If so
then
the system may not be able to detect your local domain correctly and is
restricting program installation. If that is the case you may have to
open
internet explorer and manually add your domain as an intranet domain. If
you
are unsure how to do this let me know.

Two more things to try.

1. Open and command prompt window and run the Setup.exe program. Don't
run
the .exe that brings up the install menu just the one that installs the
mfgsys. I don't have the DVD handy so I can't tell you exactly which one
it
is. This will tell you if windows explorer has any software execution
restrictions.

2. Uninstall the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration

Try number 1 first. If that works you are set to go. If you ever use the
server to access the internet (not advisable) then you most definitely
want
to do number 2 above or it will be a real pain to browse for anything.

I ran into this with one of my machines a few months ago. I am trying to
give you the right answer but I can't remember for sure. It had
something to
do with a local security policy getting set inadvertently. If I remember
right execute the local security policy under control panel. If you have
anything under software restriction policies, just right click Software
Restriction Policies and select Delete Software Restriction Policies. I
believe if you have anything in there it will keep the Vantage setup
from
running because it is being recognized as a 16 bit program.

I'm working on upgrading a test server from 8.03.305 to 8.03.40X i'm am
fallowing the instructions as stated in the manual. But when i go to run
the
file that is the actual server upgrade i get an error that states.
"Windows
can not access the specified, device, path, or file. You may not have
appropriate permissions to access the item." well seeing as that i am a
domain admin i dont believe this is actually a permissions issue. I'm
running this file off the DVD they send you in the mail to do the
upgrade.

Any help any one.

NO software restriction policies defined. Still not working. Anything
else I
should look for?

Hi Joe,

Yes, it is missing and no, you CAN'T get it back.

Epicor say:
"Progress has discontinued the GUI SQL Explorer as of release 10.1A.
The GUI mode of SQL Explorer is not delivered due to JDBC3
specification changes.

Options are:
A) The TTY DOS screen version (see steps below)
B) Another possibility is to use DbVisualiser available at http://
www.minq.se/products/dbvis/
C) Purchase a copy DB Navigator which is available in the OpenEdge
Architect IDE"

Download the ODBC Tool Kit from the Epicor website for more info:

D) Use Squirrel/SQL, a Java graphical front-end to JDBC.
