Off-Topic - Terminal Server Licensing

Sarah
Citrix licenses are seperate. While Citrix licenses are concurrent,
MS TS Cals are not.
You need a Win 2k Terminal Server CAL for each computer which will
connect (at any time) to the Terminal Server. Example: You have a
total of 25 users who will use Citrix, but only 15 at time, you will
need:
15 Citrix User licenses
25 MS TS CAL's (about $79)
25 MS CAL's (about $30)

Now, if any of your users are running Windows 2000 Professional, you
don't need the TS CAL for that user.

With all the talk lately of becoming 'legal' with Microsoft licenses, we
have done an internal audit here and are making it a priority to become
legal. For the Office side, we are now legal. Now, I want to make sure we
are legal on our servers. I believe I understand the policy on Microsoft
Server, but I do not understand the policy for Terminal Server.

We run Terminal server with Citrix metaframe. Does anybody know what I need
to be legal. Do I need a license per user or per concurrent user? Do I
need BOTH Terminal server client licenses AND citrix ICA client licenses? I
have tried to research this on Microsoft's website, but can't find an
answer.

Thanks if anyone knows,

Sarah
Sarah,

Try calling "Lynne Bell" @ Microsoft - 800-426-9400 /0 ext 11258

She is part of group of "Licensing Reps" that will happily spend hours
explaining the nuances of MS licensing with you. She may not handle your
part of the world but I have no doubt she will happily connect you to the
correct person.

For a MS rep she is reasonably nice .... Tell her I said "Hello" ...

Sarah
