I could not agree more with Todd's soapbox regarding spam and Toner
Salesman. I believe Toner Salesman make Auto Dealers look honest.

Depends on the printer, how old it is and how much I care about it. For high
end HP LaserJets and our color LaserJets I have insisted on genuine new HP
toner carts. For the other 90% of our printers re-loads are OK and seem to
have never caused a problem in terms of damage to the printer. A few times
we have had leaky carts or carts with damage to the imager or fuser (or
whatever the shiny greenish tube inside is). But these have always been
replaced by our supplier at no cost. We always "recycle" the cartridges
(even new ones) back to the vendor so they can reload them. Many of the new
cartridges have chips on them that activate the printer. I am suspecting in
the future a capability by HP to disable the cartridge when it runs out and
only be re-enabled by HP.
Soapbox: Never buy reloads from any of the cold call boiler room callers
that call for "whoever handles your printer supplies" etc... I would not
reward them with my business, ever. Ditto for email spammers. Find a good
reputable local office supply place. Also, "come on" pitches for "new"
cartridges or super fine particle extended life twice the pages cartridges
are all bogus. There was an outfit seveal years ago pitching "try one free -
absolutely no obligation - see if you like it", yada yada yada, so I caved
to to get rid of them. They ended up sending a bill which I refused to pay
because the cartridge never worked right and they kept hounding for until I
threatened to turn them over to the state AG office. Funny thing was they
called a few weeks later with exactly the same pitch and got an earful.

Has anybody every used recycled toner cartridges for their laser printers?
Would anybody recommend using them or do they cause problems with the
printers?
Thanks,
Jasper
