Call me new-school an paranoid but why would you ever want passwords
stored anywhere?

Passwords should be salted and stored after encrypting them is a one way
fashion. Need to log in as someone? Change their password and log in as
that person and log it. It's better to piggyback onto a session through
RDP than to log on as someone else.

As for storing passwords, I like LastPass.com for my online passwords.
There is NO way for them to reverse engineer about password. It has a
nice place for other passwords like WiFi spots, etc.

I use a product called Remote Desktop Manager to easily manage and connect to the dozens of servers we have (and user desktops). The info is stored in a central mdb file that I and a couple other techs that work for me share - and any changes we make or add is seen across all our clients. We also store all our username/passwords in it along with any associated urls for sites, etc.

They make a online version as opposed to the local client that I use. While its primary purpose is for RDP, etc - it could be used solely for urls/username and password info. It seems pretty inexpensive and I believe you can try it free.

If you try the online version, send me an email afterwards and let me know how it was as I'm curious myself for our non-tech departments storing that info.

As a side question strictly out of curiosity, why would you care to
know/track/mange password history?

You mean post-it notes in the top drawer or under the desk blotter isn't enough?

I second Last-Pass, I use it for all my passwords.
