ODBC Read Only

No you are correct. The Variance report is only going to show items that the count was different than what was on hand before inventory... the Variance is the change to inventory only. They should have ran a stock status before and after and the change between the two would be the variance report.

We are on vantage 6.0. I was reviewing a part transaction and I noticed the
system date was different that than the time created. What are these fields
and how do they effect transactions? I know in previous versions you could
back date a transaction date but under 6.0 this was changed. Thanks in
advance. Also on another note. Our accounting department is trying to use
the variance report to value our year end inventory. I have explained the
objective of the count entry program is to correct physical balances to
computer balances. Once you post the count the stock status will give you
your year end value. Am I off track here? Thanks

It's a bit out of scope but does anyone know if it is possible to set up a user with ODBC
access to the Vantage tables but limit their access to read only?

We'd like to give an Access capability to certain users but make sure that they don't write
back to any tables.

Yes, the instructions are located in Epicors ODBC Kit.

Thanks
Jeremy

As an added security, when you link to the tables set the security to
read only from within Access.
