(O.T) Domain name renewal?

I use godaddy.com for my personal domain name. They seem committed to good
practices, privacy, anti-spam etc. Inexpensive.

I think GoDaddy.com is great. Also it's only like $8 per year. Plus they
have procedures in place where your Domain Info (Contact Email Address)
can't be automatically scanned by spammer software and added to a dbase. Do
a whois on GoDaddy.com and you will see what I mean. They also offer
Private registration where your info is NOT made public.

I use register.com
Been with them for 6 years and registered many sites, never a problem. They
have a great online setup page. You can change any of your IP's very
quickly.

No problems that I am aware of just exploring my options. The renewal letter
I received has Network Solutions logo at the top of the page, at the bottom
of the page are instructions to renew at www.discountRenewal.com . Yesterday
I called Network Solutions, they told me that they were not affiliated in
any way with discountRenewal.com. Strangely the link takes me to a Network
Solutions page and looks pretty legit. I suspect I might of been
misinformed.

We regularly get adds from other Domain hosting sites saying that it is time
to renew (when actually it is not) our Web Hosting. There were a lot of
cheaper places to do Domain hosting. In the end we opted to stick with
Network Solutions only because we didn't want to take the time to research.
It would have saved a couple hundred dollars over 5 years to switch.
