I just added several .scp and one .bat file to the Misc folder at Yahoo.
These are for Macro Scheduler ( www.mjtnet.com), the macro app I use. The
(modified) bat file was built by Jay Erickson (I think) for 4.00. Under 5.0
I couldn't get it to restart the test db, so I added a macro that VNCs to
our server desktop, double-clicks the Progress Explorer icon, waits an
obnoxiously long amount of time for it to open, then drills down to the test
db and clicks the start button, then closes everything behind itself. It
then calls another macro to auto login as me into the test db, then calls
another macro that captures the current date and changes all our company
names to reflect the !!Test!! status, plus the date they were copied.
They're not pretty by any stretch of the imagination (I don't claim any
skill as a programmer), but they work.
I have AT on the server set to run the bat file around 3:00 am, and the
macros to run around 4:30 am, to give plenty of time for unexpected delays.
Everything happens without any intervention from me, I just verify that
everything copied and renamed correctly when I get here of a morning.
If anybody has any questions, or if I muddled my explanation hopelessly,
feel free to contact me on or offline.
PS. Feels cool to be able to contribute something for a change after all
the help I've gotten from the list.
Thanx,

I know a number of you Vantage users keep a current copy of their database
as a Test version on the side. Has anyone automated this process to do so on
a daily/weekly basis?
You would need to automate the Shutdown of the database, then restore from a
backup copy, then start the database back up again. It would be nice to also
update the Company name with the current backup date as well.
Any ideas?
