Hi Joshua,
What is the phantom pack feature in customer shipment entry?

You freight them through Master Pack. you can choose to freight them
individually or as one package.
I prefer to use the phantom pack feature in customer shipment entry rather
than master packs for parcel shipments. Honestly the master pack feature
seems pretty useless to me unless you need an individual packing slip for
each package. Our stuff is shipped out with only one part per package for
parcel shipments so it doesn't require more than one pack slip.
I was hoping to use master pack more for our LTL shipments so each pallet
would have a different pack but also having a master packing slip. The
problem with that is the weights don't work out when generating a BOL. It
multiplies the weight for the MP by the number of packs, or it thinks it
is just one package if you only pick one. It doesn't read the weight from
each individual pack once it is added to a pack. If I make a pack for each
pallet, and choose all of them to generate a BOL without going through MP
it works out with the correct number of pallets with the correct weight.
We don't use Insite for our LTL shipments so I am not sure if that would
make it work better. Can anyone that uses Insite for LTL shipments weigh
in on that?
Josh
