I know I can use DMT to get BAQ data - if I setup a BAQ to get PO Suggestions that exist. I know I can use PowerShell to trigger the DMT. I know I can use Windows Task Scheduler to run PowerShell at a scheduled time each day. Therefore, I know I can email certain people out the existing PO Suggestions every Monday morning as is asked of me.
Can anyone tell me how to generate NEW PO Suggestions before I run the DMT of the BAQ of the results through automation on a schedule?
Depending on the version, some of the menu items may have different names (I’m in 10.1.600 for this example).
System Setup > System Maintenance > System Agent
New > New Schedule
enter a Description (something like “Generate Suggestions”)
for Schedule Type, choose Daily and select which days, or whichever other option suits your purpose.
In the Next Run box, choose the date and time when you want it run next… and then it will run at that same time based on the Schedule Type (if you choose Daily, and then select each weekday, and then in Next Run enter today at 4pm, it will run each weekday at 4pm from now until forever or until you tell it to stop)
Save and Close the System Agent
Now go into Material Management > Purchase Management > General Operations > Generate Suggestions
Select the options you wish (there are discussions of them in the system help)
Filter as necessary
in the Schedule box use the dropdown to select the “Generate Suggestions” schedule you created
Check the box labelled “recurring”
Click the “Process” icon on the upper portion of the window.
Before you do this, you’ll need to run Generate Suggestions to see how long it takes, so you can make sure it is completed BEFORE your email is sent. Give yourself a good hour or so for future growth.
Let me know if you have any questions, and others feel free to chime in!
This all checks out. My system’s PO suggestion run time was 20 minutes. But that could change over time so I’ll give it an hour minimum buffer before triggering my email.
My recurring Process is now set.
Thanks for the information!
