Neg on stock Status / pos. Qty on hand/ FIX didn't work

We received the fix from Epicor but it didn't work.  Wondering if it worked for anyone else?

Hi Mike,
wondering if you installed the fix for this issue and if it worked?
Thanks
Jacqueline

Hi

I am currently having the same issue (8.03.408). I and support recognize the root cause to be that the 'system date' went missing on my inventory receipt transaction. We received 25 in and pulled 25, so the stock status indicates a negative 25. Compare you part trasaction history and see what is missing. If this is a purchased part check purchase advisor and look for missing dates on receipts.

My customer table in Vantage 6.1 has an index for every column in the table. This makes it impossible to access via ODBC when using MS Access as the platform. I would like to know how to remove these indices. The index management functionality of the progress data administration application is disabled. Should I look into creating a 4GL query to modify the schema, or would it be more efficient to try to create a static query equivalent to a stored procedure in SQL server. I am using the MERANT 3.60 32-bit progress SQL92 v9.1D ODBC driver for exportation to a MSAccess 2010 database for processing.

Do they have an Epicor maintenance agreement?  If they do and what you describe is carried out, they can kiss that goodbye lol

No ofense but hte indexes are there for a reason and "I want to use microsoft access" is not a good enough reason to void any maintenance and risk ruining your application. Perhaps they should get a different piece of software. Also and for what is worth Access also has a limitation in the number of columns which a lot of the tables exeed.

You'll want to create a VIEW - which should work with Access.

I believe there are instructions fro creating a VIEW of the customer table in the files section here.

You don't want to remove an index.

I am currently normalizing a database that has been without proper database administration for 15+ years. If necessary I will extract the data via dump and load, run the CONV910 PROUTIL command and tell them, sorry your database is too broken. Here is what EPICOR CONSULTING will charge you 6000 dollars for, one command, freely available to learn online, for those who have the skill and discipline to implement it. Note, the correct way to use quotation marks:

"or would it be more efficient to try to create a static query equivalent to a stored procedure in SQL server"

@b_ordway, thanks this worked perfectly.

Additionally, I am here to help other people with upgrades from V6.1 to 9.05.702 or higher. I have been working alone on this for about 6 months and should have my new system up and running by the end of the year.

FYI: The maintenance agreement is nearly worthless for the price you pay. Almost every time I call, I am left on hold, for them to call me back and say, "I'm sorry I couldn't find any information on that, would you like to speak to a consultant?" No, i would not. I would like TECHNICAL SUPPORT to SUPPORT their customers.

I am currently normalizing a database that has been without proper database administration for 15+ years. They still are using a DBASE system from 1988... I have already done a normalization/database transferal from an Access backend system to SQL server. Thus when I engaged in this project that was the tool I decided to use. Also no data normalization, please implement these procedures I have written so you can actually have data integrity. Project finished.

Also on "risking" damage to my application, no, its called a backup. Its called, I run whatever 4GL query I discover in these 2000+ page manuals on a test database. Its called a digital system, completely recoverable for someone with half a brain Mr. Gomez.

Thank you for letting me know about views b_ordway.

I was not very impressed with how the group handled this guys post.

I don't recall any pervious posts from him but you guys were pretty snarky right out of the chute.

His reply was pretty snarky but I don't think he expected to get piled on like that.

As a group, I have seen (and I hope in the future) that we can do better.

Jose may not have said the comment politically correct but he sure is right about Access.  Jose and many others have been helpful in the past.   The very smart ones like Jose you have to take their comments like grains of salt----very lightly.   As long as I learn something I do not care how it is said.

I used Access to export the data from V8 to DMT into E9.  I had to used an Access pass through query to access the customer table.   Regular query would err.  Maybe if the guy is still viewing the group and if he has not tried a pass through query this post may help.

Known issue in 6.1 when accessing the Customer table via ODBC. There’s a documented workaround for this if the original poster is still interested.

No hard feelings.

The view method described in the files section worked perfectly. @b_ordway

Access does have its limitations, esp with big data/table size constraints, I have experience developing automation procedures in access so it was easier to use that platform rather than learn .net or jump back into JAVA and develop my own application to do my automation. I could use SQL Server but then have to learn all the ODBC connectors over again. I am currently familiarizing myself with the sqlexp commands and will attempt to incorporate those program calls into my current procedure.

Context: Company wants historical data moved over, with db normalization. Long arduous process for cleaning 15+ years of data, but it will let me consolidate current 6.1 and DBASE systems.

I am creating a procedure to enable running the systems in parallel, downtime is not an option. This allows for training to occur with current data, and the advantages of EP9 over the current discrete systems are more easily recognized.

I don't recall any pervious posts from him but you guys were pretty snarky right out of the chute.

His reply was pretty snarky but I don't think he expected to get piled on like that.

As a group, I have seen (and I hope in the future) that we can do better.

FYI: The quotation mark is reserved for direct quoting only. "I want to use Microsoft access" was never stated.

It is also good practice to spell and grammar check before posting a message....

Hello, Good Morning,

I printed out a Stock Status, checked "neg on hand balance, purchased and manufactured, exclude 0 qty".  An item came up neg 8,208pcs on the stock status, (correct dollar amount). BUT Part Tracker inventory is positive 216 pcs.
Same outcome when I print a Stock Status without Neg on hand balance checked.

When I review the Part History this neg qty amount is not anywhere!

Thought I'd ask here before calling Epicor and getting a call #.

Thanks in advance
Jacqueline

Enjoy the day!

Try running conversion 6430 and see if that fixes the problem.

Also, in Part Trans History, change your cutoff date to 1/1/9666

Sometimes there are future transactions that screw things up.

Try running conversion 6430 and see if that fixes the problem.

Non Netting can also cause a difference between the Part Tracker and the Stock Status.

In Part Tracker are you using the Bins tab or the Warehouse tab?

I like to use the Bin tab. Â In the Warehouse tab, the quantity on hand for a non-netting bin, is in the non nettable qty bucket, not in the quantity on hand.
