Need votes for a program to remove kinetic personalizations

This is really biting us right now. I don’t know what the user did, but they somehow corrupted their kinetic order entry personalization and there is no way to remove it. Support even gave me a fix that was supposed to delete the personalization but it did not delete the xxxdef record. I ended up just having to make a new profile for that person which is not an acceptable solution - they lose all their favorites and other personalizations, their user id no longer follows convention, etc. I can’t make new profiles every time a personalization needs to be deleted.

So with that said, if anybody has any free votes can you please vote for this? Epicor has not categorized it which makes me think it is not showing up to people browsing the site.

@timshuwy do you know if this idea is being considered?

I am investigating. Seems that there has been confusion on this idea and its friend https://epicor-manufacturing.ideas.aha.io/ideas/KNTC-I-2818 that was merged into this one.

Any updates on this @timshuwy? The idea still has no category or status.

I am now going on over a month on my support case and they still haven’t been able to remove one single kinetic personalization.

@aosemwengie1 have you tried “Personalization Purge” in full client ?

That only purges classic personalizations, NOT kinetic personalizations, hence the need for the “idea”.

Can you turn off the ability to do Personalizations on users as a stop gap. Or is that checkbox only for Classic personalizations?

I can but it is very limiting to the user if I do that, and it does nothing to resolve the issue of the already-corrupted personalization.

My little bit of research - I found this.
I didn’t know it existed.
Hope this helps to set back to default the one page or all pages.

Resetting A Page to the Default Layout

After you personalize a page, you might decide that it was better in its original form. In this case, you can go back to the page’s default settings.

  1. On the personalization panel, select Reset to Default.
  2. To the confirmation message that appears, select Yes.The page and personalization panel refresh with the default settings. Note that you don’t need to save after you revert the changes, you can simply close the panel.Reset to Default only reverts the changes for this page. If you want to revert the changes for the whole application, you need to do it from the personalization panel of the application’s landing page.

Resetting All Pages of an Application to the Default Layout

If you changed more than one page of an application and want to revert all the changes at once, you can do it from the application’s landing page.

Tip: An application’s landing page is the first page you see when you open the application.

  1. On the landing page of the application, from the Overflow menu, select Personalization.
  2. On the personalization panel, select Reset All Pages.
  3. To the confirmation message that appears, select Yes.This reverts the changes for the whole application. Note that you don’t need to save after you revert the changes, you can simply close the panel.

have you hit the “Escalate Case” button on the support case?

FYI, the idea does have a category, and it does have a status. Here is the “backside” view… this has been closed as a bug because that is what it is… and it should be handled by Tech Support, not as an Enhancement. You should not have to waste your votes on getting a bug fixed. (Note, we have a meeting on Friday to discuss raising your vote count!)

No that doesn’t work - if the personalization is so corrupt that you can’t launch the page, there is no way to access that command, and besides that, it doesn’t delete the xxxdef record. It only deletes the grid personalizations. Caveat: In 2021.2. I don’t know if the reset commands are/will be fixed in a future version.

That is the best news I’ve heard!!!

I totally love the statement that we shouldn’t have to waste votes getting bugs fixed.

No I have not escalated the case because I don’t believe it will accomplish anything, and because I have a workaround (with the temporary profile), so I don’t feel it is urgent. Its just the kind of thing that is frustrating because I could have fixed it in 2 seconds in classic, but in kinetic it takes weeks of follow up and still no resolution.

Btw, there is still nothing in the customer-facing view that says this is closed or what the status is . . .

@aosemwengie1 that is interesting… a bug in Aha! actually we have ideas that are marked as a BUG are supposed to be hidden… in fact, if you look you will find that the Status Filter doesn’t show the Closed - Bug status.
BUT if you search for your idea, you can still find it.
I will report this to the powers in charge.

I mean, hiding isn’t a great solution either - anybody who previously saw or voted for the idea might be looking for it and there is no way to know what happened to it? Why not mark as a bug visibly or comment on it so people know epicor is addressing it and don’t create the same idea again? After all, I created the idea originally (the one I created that got merged with this one) specifically at the instruction of support.

Dashboard to remove Kinetic personalizations.
Run it for a user (or wide open).

Note Type and Key2.
There are two different personalizations for the same screen, grids and overall layout. This will purge both.
Select the box next to the ones you want to purge and hit save (I was too lazy to auto refresh it to show it did anything, so you’ll have to hit that yourself).

You’re welcome Epicor.

I mean, I know I can easily delete it myself - but I shouldn’t have to?

K.

Welcome to Kinetic. It’s an unfinished product pushed to GA by marketing.
Get used to it.
