We had the same situation at our company where we had two companies
sharing material, people, etc. Rather than setting up multilple
companies in Vantage, we set each company up as a division. This way
you could setup different financial for each company using divisions
and also consolidated. If anything had to be allocated or assigned
to a different company(division)a simple journal entry could just
reclass it. It served our purpose. We had the separation we needed
as well as the consolidation.
