Multi-Company, Multi-Customization

Hi Ted,
I tried that first, doesn't work. The wrong Customization opens (at times) and some fields that are hidden in one show in another its buggy as hell.

So we have 10 different companies in this multi company installation, each company has a slightly different customization they want done in SalesOrderEnry

In E10 I can set the a new menu item for each company and set the "Company X Only Flag" so I end up with a setup like this

Sales Order Entry -C SO_CustCompanyX -Cust X Only
Sales Order Entry -C SO_CustCompanyY -Cust Y Only
Sales Order Entry -C SO_CustCompanyZ -Cust Z Only
Sales Order Entry -C SO_CustCompanyA -Cust A Only
etc...
the end result is that each company has ONE Sales Order Entry customized to their liking.. #AWESOME!

Here is where the setup falls apart, Process Calling Maintenance is not company aware, thus if I add an entry to Process Calling Maintenance to fix the "Open With" setup I have to provide a menu ID which will be invoked.... and thats my problem... I can't create one of these per company...

Does anyone have ideas? I tried naming the customizations all the same and setting the Company X only flag in the customization side. But that does not work.

Could you create a new menu item / form that just serves as an intermediary? It would figure out which customization is correct and then launch the real SO Entry form with that customization applied?

Hi Joe,
Yeah I thought of that too... however it seems so incredibly wrong hahaha I was hoping there was a reasonable solution that didn't involve a "HACK" I will resort to that though if I must. I think if I put the code on Form Load it might be able to kill the "intermediate" form before it even renders so the end user will just notice a slight delay in the open with launch instead of a weird flicker on / off. I might even be able to call a different form (UD Form) that is much smaller than Order Entry.

Agreed about the hack. I knew you’d already tried the graceful solutions though.

You can create the customization (Cust1) in company A, then go to company B and open Cust1 modify it and save as Cust1.

Then you just need one menu item in menu maintenance with Cust1 selected.
