We’ve been having an issue where Finished Good material gets stuck in WIP. The job is completed but when we go to Part Tracker (against the FG part) > Part Locations > WIP we can see that there is quantity in the WIP warehouse from the completed job. We can’t figure out how it gets there. The job is completed and the reported quantity matches the amount that we job receipt to inventory.
We’ve opened up a ticket for Support but they are asking us to replicate the issue, however, it happens randomly and we aren’t sure what part of the process is putting WIP there. Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea what could be happening?
In Job Completion/Closing it will show you how many have been transacted to Inventory and/or shipments.
You likely have not transacted all of the items out of the job.
Our totals match there too. The total amount reported = the total amount we Job receipt to inventory. It doesn’t look like anything should be left in WIP.
That would be why then.
Completion only stops future transactions (except adjustments). Closing will finalize the financials for the job and release the WIP.
That makes sense. So even though they have already been transacted they will stay in WIP until the job is closed, right? Is there a reason why certain quantities will stay in WIP until job closing and others do not?
Often it will be different transactions will cause WIP to not make 100% sense.
If this is the final part still in WIP, then likely the part was transacted in and out.
