Good Day Lauren:
Sun went live on 11/29/10
on Epicor 9, 9.05.601B SQL-Unidata
Sun was previously on M2K (Manage-2000) 7.0 SP 5 (Informix)
Our MRP takes about 2.5 hours with REGEN - about 12 minutes
Net-Change - 289,000 Part#'s - 40,000 with usage.
To have regen and Net-Change take the same time is very odd.
Very important that you run it with "Number of MRP Process" = 6 ( if
you have two-Quad processors), also set " number of Schedulers" to the
same number.
Example: Full regen 2 processors = 15 hours, 6 processor =
2.5
MRP does do a tremendous amount of things:
1. It deletes all Suggestions and Unfirmed-Planned-Jobs in Regen
Mode ( does not do that in Net-Change)
2. It then goes through all parts by level. and taking ALL the
various MRP settings into account - Min-Max, Safety-Stock, Qty-Bearing,
MRP-Fence, Days-Supply, etc.
Then it explodes the components of any Manufactured Parts.
3. Using all that it creates new PO-Suggestions, and
Unfirmed-Planned-orders ( many of the lines deleted in first step are
now re-created) , it also makes suggestions for Changes to PO-Qty's and
Due-Dates.

Subject: [Vantage] MRP Runtime
We are running Epicor 9.05.603 and we are seeing excessively long
processing times on MRP. Doesn't matter if we run a full regen or a net
change, the process always takes almost 20 hours. What kind of times is
everyone out there seeing? Does anyone know specifically what is
happening in the background when MRP is processing? We have posed this
question to several Epicor resources, but no one can seem to answer
these questions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lauren Hellings
