Moving From Average Cost to Std Cost

We switched to standard costing 5 years ago. As far as I know you do not
need to take everything out of inventory or update the costs manually.

As long as you have a BOM created for the parts that you are change to
standard cost you can do a cost roll for those parts and it will update the
cost along with what the inventory is valued at.

You are going to love this....Since Vantage has no global method of
re-valuating inventory you need to do everything manually:

1) Make sure your BOMs are setup properly and all parts have proper
costing
2) Any parts you want to change costing for that are in stock need to
be adjusted out
3) The part costing method needs to be changed for each part (I hope
you have the Master File import tools)
4) The parts need to be manually adjusted in under the new costing
method.

Have fun!

Has anyone changed from average to standard cost? and what was the
steps you need to take?

In ver 6.0 the Master file import and export no longer work, supports answer was to have custom programming write a program. Look's like this one will be fun!

One option would be to use Winbatch or Ground control to do the data entry. Shouldn't be to hard to setup and if your part list is long it should save time.

6.1 has some integrated Import tools that I have yet to evaluate. You
can also still get a "newer" version of the old Import tools for a fee
