Talk to Epicor Custom Programming about an Export/Import utility. I used
one back in the 4.00 days to change cost methods without having to zero
out the quantity. It also let us input standard costs that we
manipulated in excel.

Subject: [Vantage] Moving from Average Cost to Standard
We have a database of about 60,000 + parts. We are using the average
costing method and are in the process of moving to standard costing. We
know we will not update all 60,000+ parts but at least those active in
the last xxx(say 3) months. We are using Vantage 6.1 and also have
8.03.4xx setup in a test environment (in case someone has a solution for
8 and not 6). We rolled our average to standard so that we would
populate fields with standard data that we can report against. Here is
what we are looking for and I just want opinions, thoughts, reports,
ANYTHING that can help us move forward.
We have historical data, just not up-to-date standards. Worst case, we
would write a program/report to mine the historical data, throw out the
best and worst 10 or 20% and use the average of that as the standard.
The issue is that we are then locking in the historical performance,
even if it is poor. This was the route we were heading anyway.
