Dragging and dropping only seems to 'hide' the field. Is there a way to do this without recreating the field?
You might be able to change the parent guid by editing the XML directly.
I've never tried it though. It's probably going to be easier to just
recreate it.

It is possible, but not convenient. In Sys Mgmt -> Customization
Maintenance, open "Show Custom Data" on the Action menu. Change the
GUID for the ParentControlKey in the Controls tab *and* in the
Properties tab. Save & reopen in development mode, you'll have to
manually correct the screen XY position of that control.

Brian.

The only way I know to do this is to edit the parent key in the custom
XML editor.

I have success doing this for custom controls but my understanding is
that you cannot do this for native controls.

Right clicking on the field only gives me Send to Back and Bring to Front,
and choosing Copy from the Edit menu doesn't do anything.

I called support and they said it's not possible, but I'm going to attempt
Brians' suggestion.

Just to appease my curiosity, is there a reason why you don't want to just
recreate it? It seems like we're putting a lot of work into avoiding a 2
minuted task.

Select all the custom controls from group 1 and press CTRL+X(Cut) and select the group 2 and CTRL+V(Paste).

I tried in the past and it worked in 9.05.605.
