Moving a V8 database from one server to another

I had same issue in setting up a test server for 803.
The only thing I could figure was a mismatch between OpenEdge
versions installed on the different machines

Make sure they are identical - service pack wise and capability wise

Hello,

I installed Vantage 8.03 on my laptop that is running Windows XP SP2 so
that I could work out of the office and wouldn't need an internet
connection.

I backed up our database from our Vantage server and restored it to my
laptop. When I try to start the database I get an error message that
indicates that the database can't start. (Can't remember the exact error
but I will post it later if needed). I also noticed that once the
database is restored I can't do anything to it. For example, I tried to
restore again and I tried to run a couple of proutil commands against it
and in each case a get an error that says that it can't find the
"word-break table 2".

Despite the obvious hardware differences and the different OS the only
thing that is different is that Vantage is installed on the server in
D:\epicor and is installed in C:\epicorserver on the laptop.

Any idea of why I can't start the database on the server?

Joe -

Did you run the command: "prostct repair mfgsys" on the copy of the db on
the laptop?
You need to log into the V8 Administrator and verify settings.
You'll also need to update the process server in Vantage.

Calvin
