Monarch Reports

I do use Monarch with Vantage. I use it to convert the canned WIP report
(txt file) into both a DBF file, and a XLS file format. The conversion
process takes under a minute.

I have played with it but found it had a really steep learning curve (or I was too lazy to really try it). Primary benefit was extracting data from report written in Progress. Someday in 8.0 with all the reports in Crystal it would be easier to modify the root report. So the "lifetime" benefit for climbing the curve might be short. Monarch was originally intended as a bridge from greenbar reports in plain txt format to spreadsheets. I was a lot more useful with DCD-Classic.

Currection - "IT (Monarch) was a lot more useful with DCD-Classic." not "I was a lot more useful with DCD-Classic." - I was not "useful" with Classic at all - Didn't know diddly about AS/400 files. ;)
