Has anybody managed to modify the KeyFields search defaults for all users? This seems to be locked behind a base event.
The goal is to set default search options to only show orders in that user’s plant. By default, all users can see all orders regardless of their plant.
Is the only way to create an all new search process?
Do you mean the plant they are currently “in” or all the plants they have permissions for? That seems like it would be really frustrating depending on the context of where they are trying to search for orders.
Good question, this may bring up some user account security needs that I am completely unfamiliar with.
The user should be able to see orders for the plant(s) they have access to. For most of our sales people, that would just be the plant they are in. However, for a few users they would need to see multiple plants.
I just tested this - I entered an order in one site, then logged in as a user who did not have permission to that site, and could not see the order. could understand wanting to prevent people from seeing things they shouldn’t have permission to see (which appears to already work that way out of the box), but restricting people to only seeing orders in the site they are currently “in” seems like a recipe for user frustration and inefficiency. What is the problem you are trying to solve? What about just creating a quick search with a parameter for site to make it easier for them to filter the results down?
Our system seems not to have the same effect, possibly due to how our company/plant relationship is set up?
Ideally, like you said all data should be visible if the users need to find it. I’m thinking from a day-to-day operation standpoint, a user will almost always only need to see orders within their plant.

However, plant isn’t an option within this.
You can create a quick search or BAQ search with whatever parameters you want.
You’re right the sales order does still show up for the other users, my initial test was flawed. But it still doesn’t change the way I would handle it.
