Now that we have had a gun put to our heads by the State of CA, we need to
file sales and use tax in CA. First I must say what a nightmare. Enough
said there.

How do you handle sales tax in Vantage for CA? There are like 40 different
districts to keep track of. Granted some of the have the same rate but for
BOE-531-A requires a breakdown.

Before this becomes a huge rate, if someone has done something to deal with
sales tax in CA please shed some light on this.

We are addressing California Sales Tax as follows: we set up Tax
Regions for each of the taxing entities, CAAL for Ca - Alameda for
example, and assigned a common Sales Tax Code, C875. This minimizes
the Sales Tax Codes but messes-up the reporting. The standard Vantage
Sales Tax Report becomes useless. This forced us to create a custom
report in Report Builder. We take the info in the InvcTax table then
join it to InvcHead table to get the Customer then retrieve the
Customer's Tax Region. I don't know what BOE-531-A is, but I think
the above is workable for our Accounting folks. Hope this helps!
