MFG-VAR Transactions

Well part of it goes to COS. Guess they figure if something was posted to stores maybe it hasn't actually shipped yet so it goes to a variance. We ship from both manufacturing and Finished goods so our remaining cost is split between the two based on what actually happened on the work order.

I have been fighting those damn things for ever...telling Epicor they should
be charged to COS instead of moved to variance account...stupid ...no reason
for it...

Does anyone have an explaination for why these are created during the
WIP/COS posting?

Any one using Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE)? I have written a few applications in Visual Basic which use Access database engine. The
data has grown to 150,000 records and it has slowed down the programs. I wonder if MSDE is the next step or MySQL.

From help:
MFG-VAR transactions use the system configuration variance account for
variances for manufactured receipts to inventory. MFG-VAR transactions use
the cost of sales account for variances against shipped jobs that have no
outstanding uncosted shipments.

To see a graphic that shows the way costs from various transactions flow
through General Ledger, click here.

When a job is closed, any remaining costs are purged from WIP during the
WIP/COS calculation process. These costs are posted to the Cost of Sales
and Variance accounts in the ratio of the quantity that was shipped or sent
to inventory to the quantity relieved.

Simply put example is if you close a job and it has no shipments or inv
receipts and no qty complete 100% goes to Mfg-Var.
