So finance just closed many jobs and recorded MFG-VAR transactions to the GL accounts.
The problem is that I can see the transactions posted on the Part Transaction History Tracker but I don’t see those transactions in the Chart Tracker when looking up that GL account.
Here is one of the many parts.
(Transactions are posted in Part History Transactions)
Thank you very much for pointing that out Andrew! That is indeed the culprit. Finance swore to me that they did run the Capture WIP and apparently they did. But the catch is that they hit an error while running it and they didn’t even know about it. I retraced their steps, clear out the error from the Review Journal and re-ran the Capture. Everything looks good now!
To your earlier questions, usually I see the Period Posting Process then I can navigate and see the Transactions Detail & Cost Transaction. However, I couldn’t find those transactions to begin with.
Yes, I guess when Finance ran the Capture the first time and hit the error, some transactions went through and some just did not make it? But yes, that’s strange that I can see on the Part History but not the GL account.
Right, the posting engine churns through a day at a time. If March 1 posts without any hiccups, it goes to March 2, then March 3. If March 3 bombs, then that’s it.
You can see this if you look at the system monitor for the capture.
@JasonMcD - The transactions on Part Transaction History Tracker are not necessarily posted to GL. A good drilldown and reporting tool like FastClose can help researching these things. Especially helpful for COS/WIP Capture issues, which can be pretty tedious to research.
Right, I agree generally, but I have never seen unposted MFG-VAR in PTHT before. In my experience, those specifically only appear at capture.
Huh, although ours always say “phantom purge…” and these say just “purge…”
Perhaps there’s a step we omit routinely with job completion. For example, we hardly ever manually close jobs; I just run auto-close on the night of the 31st (or what have you).
You’re right about the Phantom purge WIP to Variance. My understanding is that they do not go to PartTran. But as you note, Purge WIP to Variance does. It might be worthwhile to query PartTran joined to TranGLC to get additional information.
