MFG-VAR Blank Title 52168

Mark

The MFG-VAR transactions are posted for all closed orders when session " Capture COS/ WIP Activity". This must be run by your Finance person, hence you will find his log in on these transactions. The orders can be closed by any user, but MFG-VAR will have person posting to GL.

You are correct in yr observation, the variance will be generated :

If the Finished good parts reported are more than planned.

More Raw Material is issued ( scrap) then based on BOM

More labor/ Burden is applied then estimated

Our financial people found some unusual entries marked MFG-VAR and they all had our financial persons login as being the one who logged the Variance. However our financial person was out of the country on the date specified. Therefore I was asked to ask this group if they have found any unusual entries like that.We are running Vantage 8 (Version 8.00.809A) We have however seen these entries go back to the dates we were still on Vantage 6.Possible reasons we have found:Jobs get closed without the correct number of parts made. Sometimes to many made sometimes not enough.Price variance in the parts.Just looking for clarification if we are correct in what we found. Thanks,Mark JervisInventory ControlPrince Manufacturing (Asheville)http://www.princemanufacturing.com

the Variance.

However our financial person was out of the country on the date

We are running Vantage 8 (Version 8.00.809A) We have however seen
these entries go back to the dates we were still on Vantage 6.

Possible reasons we have found:

Jobs get closed without the correct number of parts made. Sometimes
to many made sometimes not enough.

Price variance in the parts.

Just looking for clarification if we are correct in what we found.

This is typically from the Capture WIP process.

When work orders are closed with cost still on them - not taken to cost
of sales or to stock (cost could have been charged after parts ship or
put to stock or a DMR issue) And then capture is ran... this is when you
have MFG-VAR entries. And the name on them should be who ever ran and
posted capture.
