MES - Application Error 'of type Customization'

Users are getting the application error when trying to open MES. Users log in through a terminal server. Has anyone seen this error or what can be done?

“Unable to find a writable directory for files of type ‘Customization’”

The user does not have the authority to write to ProgramData\Epicor\servername\version\Company folder. For me that is C:\ProgramData\Epicor\svr-eapp-9401\9.05.702A\COMP01 yours will be in your TS environment.

We get this when IT does an install and opens Epicor as that user, then a normal user can’t overwrite the information. IT removes the ProgramData\Epicor folder completely and the normal user opens Epicor so the folder are created by them.

Did you give full access to the folder or did you delete the ProgramData\Epicor folder for that user on the terminal server?

We have fixed by giving Domain Users write access to ProgramData\Epicor and by deleting the directories which makes the user the owner and therefore has write permissions. Either one will work.

Domain write access is the same on the other terminal servers so that did not resolve the issue. Which folder directory level did you delete? Everything after the ProgramData\Epicor\ folder level?

Thanks! That worked with deleting the directories.

Good to hear. Sorry I didn’t see the other message till now.
