Materials not backflushing when reporting quantity in MES - 10.1

Hi,

I am having troubles backflushing raw materials when using MES. I have a job with only 1 operation with the “Quantity Only”, “Auto-Receive in inventory” & “Final Operation” options checked. All the Materials are set as “Backflush”. I then use the “Office MES” screen to “Report Quantity” against the job. But while the finished goods are correctly received in inventory every time I “Report Quantiy”, the raws are only backflushed when I “End the Activity”. Is this by design or am I doing something.

Essentially I would like the appropriate raw materials to be consumed every I report finished goods on a job.

Report quantity is a bit of a problem child. Basically all it does is hold the quantity for you while you are clocked into something, then when you go to end activity, puts that value in the quantity field for you. There are some other ways of it working, but we do not use it because it’s … for lack of a better term, buggy. But it’s not really a bug, it’s more that most people don’t want to use it as intended.

You’re best off using the end activity to finish any quantities.
