Mass Operations Update

Hi ,

We recently updated our MOM. Here is the procedure we applied using DMT.

1)  Copy approved revision and create new revision.
2)  Copy BOO/BOM (Bill Of Operations/Materials)  and insert into new revision.
3)  Upload attachments to new revision. 
4)  Inactive all old revision and approve newly created revision.

During the above process, you may need to go through various data manipulation process in Excel - DMT.

Hello Group,


When looking at our part's M.O.M.s, specifically the operations, we set up a lot of options. Looking back, its too many options and we are hoping to simplify the list of operations. However we have 6,000+ parts that have M.O.M.s that will need updating. So an example would that we currently have operations: Rollform, Shear, and Weld; we want to take those and change them all to 'FAB'. I would like some advice / suggestions on best practices to achieve this goal. I'm thinking a mass update BPM that goes through and updates all the records. 


My number one concern is data integrity. 


Some questions I have:


What are all the fields that would need updated? I've seen things get messed up with people trying to update/delete stuff using SQL commands, yes thats different than a BPM but same principle of dirty data.


Will I have to checkout all the parts? Could I Checkout the parts then mass update the ECO fields through a BPM?


Is there a better way than a BPM?


This project is still early on and I'm still doing research and small batch testing so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You can Use “Mass Operation Replace” process (Engineering Licenses needed).

Some Notes from Help :

Use Mass Operation Replace<about:UIApp/Epicor.Mfg.UI.MassOperReplaceEntry.dll> to replace all occurrences of one operation code with another in all part routings. Using this program will create a revision change log entry for all parts affected.

Important: The operation code will be replaced in all methods of manufacture where it occurs; however, the operation description in the method will not change to match the new operation. This is because the operation description field in the method can be modified by you, and if you have previously modified this description, you most likely do not want it to be changed by this program.
