We are trying to improve our serial number process and would like to begin using a generative mask for some of our parts, however in testing I don’t see a way to manually enter a serial number as well. This doesn’t happen often, but we do sometimes purchase a part instead of manufacturing it (same part number), and we would like to use the original manufacturers serial number.
The only way around this I see is to change the SN format of the part to alpha, receive it, then change back to the generative mask?
If the part is configured to use a mask with generated sequence, the serial number field on the create screen is pre-populated with the next sequential number and edit is disabled.
As far as I’m aware, yes and we do the same thing
