That's the one Rob. For some reason the factor ( or U/M conversion ) field
is set at the release level, while the remaining fields such as the vendor
part number and price etc. are set at the detail level.
The situation has been that we are changing our part number formats ( what a
journey this has been! ), and we have found it necessary to go back and put
new part numbers into a handful of existing PO's. This precipitated the
issue of the effective date as the PO's are some months old.
I have only made a few customisations so far. The user experience of using
the customisation editor is so bad that it drives me insane. Its like
Microsoft with all the good bits taken out...!
8.03.305 doesn't have the discontinue date, it has an "expires" field or a
"number of days" field. I haven't messed about with either of them yet...
I'm glad we never went up to 405. Perhaps we will wait a year or so ( you
never know we might be live by then! ), and go straight up to v9.
Thanks,
Nick

Nick,
I assume you mean your stocking U/M to vendor U/M conversion rate (and the
U/M's themselves as well on 404 I believe)... That was broken through at
least 404 and we customized to force it in.
405a has significant enough internal changes that our original customization
(that mainly overcame bugs) is cranky now. We've stripped it back down to
only include layout changes and one additional thing we do through UD tables
specific to our biz. We are testing it next week offline with our purchasing
people before going live with it. I won't be surprised if there are still
some base app bugs our people can trip it up on that we'll have to customize
(or 'fix' via BPM).
...Oh yeah: If you are using supplier price lists: The discontinue date
field is a dead end. You can only discontinue a supplier price list by
replacing it (for same part-vendor) with a newly effective one.
If I think of anything else (next week's testing should jog my memory) I'll
let you know.
Take care.
Rob

Vantage induced dementia I think Rob...!
The other issue was that Vantage sets the factor to zero on the PO line
detail page where multiple releases exist. I couldn't work this one out
either...!
Thanks,
Nick

D-OH is right... I remember know it also took me a few days to figure that
out when piloting - and I totally forgot about it or would have warned you.
Early dementia setting in. :)

Hi Rob...
I have spent the evening messing with it and I know what it is now Rob...
Its down to the fact that the PO create date has to be BEFORE the effective
date and not merely a case of the line being created after the effective
date... D-OH
Its easy when you know how...! ;o)
Thanks for your response...
Best regards,
Nick

Nick,
We never were live on 305 (still piloting back then) but supplier price
lists worked just fine then (and now on 405a).
Is this a new problem? (Did it ever work for you before?)
Are your suppliers Approved?

Has anyone experienced a problem with the manual creation of PO's in
8.03.305 ??
It appears that when we raise a PO manually for an inventory part,
the supplier price list data is being ignored. i.e. the suppliers
part number and price does not get pulled into the PO...
We have checked the effective date within the supplier price list and
this is not causing the problem...
We have created a few test parts in the test database and this
appears to work ok, so the problem appears to be within our live
database...
Has anyone got any ideas...?
Many thanks,
Nick Taylor
