Hi All,
We use the Maintenance Module for creating maintenance jobs for our maintenance department. Initially we were just collecting the materials that were used on the job. Then during capture and post, those cost were applied to the Maintenance GL Account in Inventory COS, WIP Control Code. That was great and we could track the costs against the specific machines. Recently, we decided to have the maintenance employees to clock into the maintenance jobs to collect their time. What we’re seeing is this is also recorded to the Maintenance Expense Account.
We would like to have the labor cost go to a different GL Account. Is there a way to control where the maintenance job labor is applied in the GL?
I don’t have the maintenance modules, so I can’t comment directly on this, but I would check the Product group that is being assigned to the job. Usually that’s where the GL control for labor comes from. This is a great resource for tracking down where Epicor is pulling GL accounts from: Inventory Transaction Hierarchy – Kinetic 2022.2 (epicor.com)
Thanks @balmon for your suggestion. With the Maintenance Module, actual maintenance jobs look nothing like inventory jobs. You don’t see any of the fields you would for a standard production job.
If you go to the equipment can you setup a GL control for the equipment type that is assigned to the piece of equipment? reading the posting rules it looks like that’s where it will check for Maintenance jobs:
