Lot Tracking On Existing Parts

We recently got a new customer that has more strict Lot Tracking standards. I have been put to the task of utilizing Epicor for Lot Tracking from PO Receipt to shipping out the finished goods. This seems like a very straightforward process but there are problems I have come across.

From what I have read it seems like that any part we want to track a lot we have to adjust the inventory out and then add it back with an assigned lot. This seems like it would take an insane amount of manual work. Is there any workaround to turning on lot tracking for parts that have quantity on hand and transactions towards it?

For new parts, we would just make sure track lots are checked when created, and seems simple but existing parts are the issue.

Thanks!

Most people use DMT in these situations to make the process quicker. This is unfortunately the only way to turn on Lot Tracking or Serial Numbers for existing part numbers.

So DMT to adjust the parts we want to track to zero then DMT track lots on and probably would have to cycle count and put in the lots manually then…Looks to be something to do on the weekend with the warehouse guys!

This isn’t what I wanted to hear but if it is the only option so be it!

Thanks!

Depending on how big the run I have dmt’d them out and back in with assigned lot numbers back into the same bins.
