Lock winform client to modern menu

Just checking to see if anyone knows a secret here. If I use “Modern”, my login screen comes up selected as modern, but drop down still available. I’d prefer they not see any options and certainly not be able to change them. Does anybody have secret sauce for this.

LaunchType value=“Modern” options=“Shell|MainMenu|KineticHome”

For the Popcorn Gallery: I am indeed a boomer. We are going to browser-based client as soon as we retire Progress and E9. This year marks 28 years in IT, so bite me Gen Z. :joy::rofl::joy:

Change the value=“” to MainMenu in their SysConfig files.

I’ve not found a way on recent versions to hide the dropdown only default it.

I can tell you when you use Entra ID (aka Azure AD), you don’t even see the login screen.

But then I don’t get the delightful Active Home Page, Mark. :frowning:
Actually a lot of users do like MainMenu, but ask is for AHP.

Oh, I took boomer to heart and thought you wanted only the Windows 8 interface!

Entra ID? Trying to differentiate from everything else Azure, no doubt.

Entra is the new name for Microsoft’s Identity offering. Azure AD was a bad name since it’s not Azure and not AD. I’m glad they changed it.

If I set it like this, I see this:

And get the Active Home Page

Oooooh, not the “K” word! :scream:
I’m going to see if that throws any other K stuff into the mix. Sliced myself on Ocham’s Razor, thanks Mark

Oh, don’t worry. It’s just the shell. Active Home Page has been around since 10.2 as you know. I think it was Epicor’s first foray into a web interface.

BTW, “Josh is not wrong” :tm:

The trick worked on 2021 but not in my 2023 dev environment. :sob:

Yup. I wasn’t thrilled. If I specify it as an admin… it’s what I want used. I was thoroughly irritated but…

@KimJSD don’t be afraid of the Kinetic Menu, it’s the superior menu over Classic and Shell at this point IMHO. It’s also the most mature of all Kinetic UX as @Mark_Wonsil pointed out, it’s been around for some time now.

Kinetic forms in Winform client are dog slow. We’d rather our users first exposure to Kinetic forms be in a browser where they are wicked fast. Yes, Kinetic UX has been around for some time now, and finally usable.
The only UI I’m afraid of is Apple-

The forms sure, but the menu is just fine. Better than fine really. Just because you are using the menu doesn’t mean you have to use the forms, but at least you users would be used to the navigation already.
