Lead time offset

Just wondering what fields inside of part maintenance people are using to offset their receiving requested delivery date to the part requirement date on the job order? The field in other ERP systems I’ve been exposed to was a field called Lead Time Offset…

I was thinking about using the field Receive time. Has any one else used this field in this manner? Any gotcha’s? Any other field recommendations (and why?)

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeff Henslee

Yes this the one typically used for purchased parts.

We’re using KIT time on 905702a. We chose this over receiving time because we wanted to have time to get manufactured parts (and purchased parts) to required job as well. A big drawback to us with kit time however, is that it’s set either very high level, on plant, or very low level, on part plant. We set it up on plant so we don’t have to maintain on all part plant records, but it’s a bit of overkill on amount of time for some easier jobs… not lean operation for certain! It would be nice if our product group / sales categories were used or some other categorization method, instead. Maybe a customization for some day…

Hi Jeff!
I’ve seen this done a couple of ways. Receive time will apply for both purchased and manufactured. This helped get a day buffer for us for manufacturing job “put away”. Queue time is at a resource group, so if you always need extra time you could add it there. Otherwise, if it’s only for specific jobs, I’ve seen where a queue operation is added with no labor / burden just to drive parts in earlier (e.g. we want a part 2 days before this operation starts).
